Overview
SnapTrim project files (.snaptrim) let you save your editing session and return to it later. This is useful when you want to:
- Resume later — Save your work and continue editing another time
- Share projects — Move projects between machines
- Keep files organised — Store project files alongside your videos
What’s Saved in a Project
A project file stores all your editing settings:
- Video reference — Both absolute and relative paths to your video file
- Trim settings — Start and end points, and whether trimming is applied
- Crop settings — Crop region, aspect ratio, and whether cropping is applied
- Redactions — All redaction regions, including their types, time ranges, and keyframes
- Metadata — Creation date, last modified date, and SnapTrim version
Creating a Project
To save your current session as a project file:
- Open the File menu
- Select Save (or press Ctrl+S)
- Choose a location and filename
- The file is saved with the
.snaptrimextension
Use Save As (Ctrl+Shift+S) to save a copy with a different name or location.
Opening a Project
There are several ways to open a project file:
- From SnapTrim — Use File > Open Project (or press Ctrl+Shift+O)
- From File Explorer — Double-click any
.snaptrimfile - Recent projects — Use File > Recent to quickly access your recent work
- Command line — Run
SnapTrim.exe project.snaptrim
Tips
- Keep files together — Store project files in the same folder as your videos for maximum portability
- Use meaningful names — Name your project files clearly so you can find them later
- Watch for unsaved changes — An asterisk (*) in the title bar indicates unsaved changes
