SnapTrim V1.5

New Features

Settings Panel Position

You can now choose to dock the settings panels on either the left or right side of the screen:

  • Settings → Appearance → Settings Panel Position
  • Choose between “Right” (default) or “Left”
  • Useful for left-handed users, multi-monitor setups, or personal preference

Copy-Paste Support for Redactions

You can now copy and paste redactions using familiar keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+C — Copy the selected redaction to the clipboard
  • Ctrl+V — Paste a copy of the redaction (offset 15 pixels down-right)
  • Edit menu — Copy and Paste menu items with keyboard shortcut hints
  • Full undo support — Paste operations can be undone with Ctrl+Z
  • Status feedback — Confirmation messages appear in the status bar

This makes it easy to create multiple redactions with similar properties or duplicate a complex animated redaction to cover multiple objects.

Scale Animation for Keyframes

Animated redactions now support size changes between keyframes:

  • Per-keyframe sizing — Resize a redaction at a specific time to set that keyframe’s size
  • Smooth interpolation — Size smoothly transitions between keyframes in both preview and export
  • Combined animation — Position and scale can be animated together on the same keyframe
  • Keyframe dropdown icon — A new resize icon is shown next to the keyframe in the keyframe dropdown so you can quickly see whether size and/or position is changed in that keyframe.

This allows you to track objects that grow or shrink over time, such as following a person walking towards or away from the camera.

Cancel Buttons for Trim and Crop Edit

When editing a previously applied trim or crop, a new Cancel button appears:

  • Cancel button — Discards your changes and restores the previously applied state
  • Escape key — Press Escape to cancel trim or crop edits quickly
  • Full undo support — Cancel operations can be undone with Ctrl+Z

This makes it easy to experiment with different trim or crop settings without losing your applied values.

Changes

  • Renamed “Save” to “Save Project” and “Save As” to “Save Project As” in the File menu for clarity
  • Removed the interactive tour feature
  • Added “Documentation” link in Help menu for quick access to online help
  • Removed lossless trim mode — exports now always re-encode for frame-accurate cuts that match the preview exactly (previously, lossless mode could only cut at keyframe boundaries, causing timing mismatches)

Improvements

  • The “Constrain playback to trim region” and “Go to trim start/end” buttons are now hidden after a trim is applied, as they’re no longer relevant — the timeline already shows only the trimmed region
  • Added Ctrl+Enter keyboard shortcut to the keyboard shortcuts help dialog
  • Selecting a redaction from the list no longer automatically seeks the playhead to the redaction’s start time, allowing for smoother workflow when reviewing multiple redactions
  • Improved timing accuracy for variable frame rate (VFR) videos — timecode display now uses the actual video frame rate instead of assuming 30fps
  • When deleting a keyframe for an animated redaction, the next nearest one is automatically selected
  • Dimensions of redaction regions are shown on the region during resizing
  • Dimensions of crop regions are shown on the overlay during resizing
  • Added a “duplicate keyframe” button alongside the keyframe dropdown

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crop overlay shrinking when dragged past video boundaries — the overlay now maintains its size and only clamps position when moved beyond the edge
  • Fixed redaction preview generating the wrong frame when trim is applied (now correctly uses the playhead position)
  • Fixed animated redaction preview showing incorrect positions when trim is applied (keyframe interpolation now uses rebased timeline coordinates)
  • Fixed “Set to Playhead” buttons for redaction custom time ranges not respecting applied trim (now uses rebased timeline position)
  • Fixed temporary redaction preview images not being cleaned up from the temp directory — preview files are now properly deleted when dismissed, when the app exits, and orphaned files from previous sessions are cleaned up on startup
  • Fixed clicking the currently open project in the Recent menu unnecessarily reloading it
  • Fixed “Go to start” and “Go to end” buttons incorrectly navigating to the trim region while editing a trim — they now navigate the full video until the trim is applied
  • Fixed overlay elements (redaction rectangles) being visible behind the video during redaction preview when positioned near the edge
